the shelf item to behind-the-counter - Leads the School Board on budget discipline, this year calling for a $16-20M
reduction in your property taxes - Introduced large stipends and recognitions for teachers with National Board
Certification - Voted against gutting accountability provisions of No Child Left Behind, which would
not have improved teaching - As Chair of the Health Safety and Wellness Committee, leads on school safety, bus
safety and nutrition - Presented policy to limit the use of commercial movies in high school courses, such
as "Lion King" in AP biology and "Mulan" in world history - Presented resolution to require valid, updated appraisals for land purchases by the
School Board - Introduced fair language to School Board decency policy for school-sponsored
activities and extracurriculars - Has attended over 95% of all bi-monthly school board meetings
- Has served as a resource for all parents in the county, regardless of their district
